Pueblo StepUp is the result of a merger in 2005 of two health and wellness agencies: Pueblo SET for Well Being and Pueblo Coalition for the Medically Underserved (PCMU). Pueblo SET for Well Being was started in 1992 by the Sisters of Charity who began offering free wellness clinics to identified low-income elderly populations in Pueblo. PCMU was started in 2001 as the result of a town hall meeting convened by the Colorado Coalition for the Medically Underserved. PCMU enrolled eligible children into federal and state healthcare programs, scheduled low-income children for dental appointments and assisted clients in obtaining hearing aids and dentures. The combination of the two agencies continues to serve these identified Pueblo populations.
