Overview
It is estimated that as many as 30,000 people in Pueblo County have inadequate medical insurance or none at all. Here in Colorado, there may be help for uninsured children and pregnant women. Depending on their income level, Colorado families may have access to either Colorado Family Medicaid or Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+), a benefits plan for people who earn too much to qualify for Colorado Family Medicaid but not enough to purchase private health insurance coverage.
The process of applying for insurance can be difficult, but Pueblo StepUp can help you with the process. We will help determine which plan you may qualify for, counsel you in gathering required documents, certify the documents, help you fill out your forms and submit your application for you. If your child attends a school in the Pueblo City Schools district, in most cases, we can enter your application directly into the Colorado Benefits Management System and issue you a temporary benefits card on the spot, so your child can see a health care provider immediately.
